Queering the Resurrection [90 minutes]: What might the story of Jesus’ resurrection mean when it is read by an LGBTQ+ person? You are invited to join in exploring Mark 16:1-8 (the Markan resurrection account) through a Queer Hermeneutic. We will review the passage’s history, then collaborate to interpret and apply the text through our LGBTQ+ perspectives. You do not have to be a Greek scholar to do this important and subversive work! After a time of exploration and communal sharing, we will examine the key arguments I present from my study – including specific linguistic elements from the Greek as support.
